What is Past Continuous Tense?
Past Continuous Tense which is also known as Past Imperfect Tense or Past Progressive Tense, shows that the work was happening in the past time, The work was happening but now it’s completed already.

Introduction of Past Continuous Tense in Hindi
Past Continuous Tense की क्रिया से यह पता चलता है कि कोई काम भूतकाल में हो रहा था|
जिन हिंदी वाक्यों के अंत में रहा था/रहे थे/रही थी जैसे शब्द हो तो वो वाक्य Past Continuous Tense के होते हैं|
| तुम लोग अपना काम कर रहे थे | | You were doing your work. |
| राम और श्याम दिल्ली जा रहे थे | | Ram and Shyam were going to Delhi. |
लेकिन जिन हिंदी वाक्यों के अंत में रहा था/रहे थे/रही थी जैसे शब्द हो और उसमे समय भी समल्लित हो जैसे, (दो दिन से, सुबह से, 12 बजे से इत्यादि) रहे तो वो वाक्य Past Perfect Continuous Tense के अनुसार होता हैं|

Example of Past Continuous Tense
| राम और श्याम दिल्ली जा रहे थे | | Ram and Shyam were going to Delhi. |
| मोनी टेनिस खेल रही थी | | Moni was playing the tennis. |
| आकाश के तारे नहीं चमक रहे थे | | The stars of the sky were not shining. |
| सीता और गीता बाते नहीं कर रहे थे | | Seeta and Geeta were not talking. |
| तुम क्या नहीं कर रहे थे ? | What were you not doing? |
Past Continuous Tense rule for Affirmative Sentences
Rule : Subject + (Was/Were) + Verb1+ing + Objects + Etc.
| राम और श्याम दिल्ली जा रहे थे | | Ram and Shyam were going to Delhi. |
| मोनी टेनिस खेल रही थी | | Moni was playing the tennis. |
| तुम लोग के भाई वहाँ जा रहे थे | | Your brothers were going there. |
| मेरे शिक्षक तुम्हे पीट रहे थे | | My teacher was beating you. |
| तुम लोग अपना काम कर रहे थे | | You were doing your work. |

| कल, कुत्ते नहीं भोक रहे थे | | Yesterday, the dogs were not barking. |
