What is Past Perfect Continuous Tense?
Past Perfect Continuous Tense denotes that the work which was completed in past time was continuous from last some time before that work ends. So these types of sentences are known as Past Perfect Continuous Tense. Let’s read below examples and identification for better understanding.

Introduction of Past Perfect Continuous Tense in Hindi
Past Perfect Continuous Tense कि क्रिया से यह बोध होता है कि कोई कार्य भूतकाल में समाप्त हो चूका है लेकिन समाप्त होने से पहले कुछ समय वह कार्य जारी था| Example :- मैं दो वर्षों से पढ़ रहा था| I had been reading for two years. Past Perfect Continuous Tense कि क्रिया के रूप had been तथा Present participle (V+ing) का प्रयोग होता है|
जिन हिंदी वाक्यों के अंत में ‘रहा था/ रही थी/ रहे थे’ हो और इनके पहले भूतकालिक समयसूचक शब्द का प्रयोग हो (जैसे -एक घंटे से, दो घंटो से, दो वर्षों से, सुबह से, 9 बजे से, 2005 ई से इत्यादि), उन वाक्यों और क्रियाओं का अनुवाद Past Perfect Continuous Tense में होगा |
Use of since and for in Past Perfect Continuous Tense
जब किसी वाक्य में समय की अवधि दी हो मतलब “कितनी देर से/कितने समय से” तब For का प्रयोग किया जाता है | जैसे-एक मिनट से, एक घंटे से, आधा घंटे से, कुछ देर से, चार वर्षों से, कई वर्षों से, बहुत दिनों से इत्यादि |
जब किसी वाक्य में समय की अवधि निश्चित हो मतलब “किस घड़ी/किस दिन/किस साल या Starting Point” दिया हो, तब Since का प्रयोग किया जाता है | जैसे-1980 ई से, Monday से, 10 बजे से, सुबह से, बचपन से, गत साल से, गत सप्ताह से, गत महीने से, कल से इत्यादि |

| वे लोग सुबह से हँस रहे थे | | They had been laughing since morning. |
| मेरी बहन सुबह से खेल रही थी | | My sister had been playing since morning. |
| अभिषेक 2003 से परीक्षा की तैयारी कर रहा था | | Abhishek had been preparing the exam since 2003. |
