1 – Evaluate your day

Humans have a unique ability to evaluate their situation and get the right ways to improve themselves whether emotionally, physically, or mentally.
So for this reason, it is always a good idea to sit down for 20-30 minutes in the evening and review your day and ask yourself:

  • What did not exactly go in my way and what could have gone better?
  • What can I improve on tomorrow?
  • What did I learn today?

2 – Write things down

Your mind can think but can not remember all things so what’s you evaluate, write down all things that happens to you. Writing down can help you maintain focus on your goals or keep track of your progress.

3 – Plan the next day

Planning is an activity that is required to be in thinking towards your set goals. It’s an activity that will encourage you to get what you think about the future which is set for you and your dreams.

4 – Unplug the things

Turn off your phone, computers, and TV at least an hour before bed.
Your phone emits the blue light that increases the release of cortisol and restricts the production of melatonin. Cortisol is the hormone responsible for alertness while melatonin controls your sleep/wake system.
So, you should stop using electronics one hour before bed to help your body to get ready for bed.

5 – Maintain personal hygiene

Maintaining personal hygiene means having good health. It refers to the things that we do to clean and care for our bodies. It includes basic activities like getting up early in the morning, brushing your teeth, taking a shower, washing your hair and body, and put on clean clothes.

Having habits of doing these activities helps in keeping your body clean that prevent illness and infection from bacteria or viruses. Having habits to stay clean not only prevents illness and infection but also adds personal and social benefits in life. So everyone should have a nightly regimen for your body and should be reviewed in regular intervals.

6 – Dim the lights

You should dim the lights in your home at least one hour before bedtime. Because darkness is very important to sleep. Darkness sends a critical signal to the body that it is time to sleep. As per recent studies, light’s exposure to the body between the time of dusk and bedtime reduces the production of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone, also known as “sleep hormone” or the “darkness hormone” regulates the sleep-wake cycle.

7 – Evening exercise

You should have a habit of evening exercise. Evening workouts are positive alternatives for those who want to maintain a workout routine and get the time for physical fitness at the end of their long busy day. Here are a few advantages:

It ensures better sleep. Working out in the evening will tire you out thus will ensure a good night’s sleep.
You will be able to work out longer: In research, it has been found that muscular function and strength are a peak in the evening hours, that enables you to work out longer.

8 – Prepare tomorrow’s outfit

Make the habit of picking up an outfit for tomorrow and hang it on a hanger. It will make your mornings more easy and effortless because you will not be confused about what to wear in the morning. It will also save some time in the morning.

9 – Connect with loved ones

One of the most important activities in the evening is to connect with your loved ones. Connect with your loved ones-your spouse, children, relatives, friends by engaging in some meaningful conversations for 20-30 minutes. Connecting with your loved ones and hugging them will remind you of your purpose and keep you grounded.

10 – Read

Try to incorporate a good 20 minutes or more for some blissful reading. Take your favorite book and read at least one chapter every night. Reading is a powerful habit that not only stimulates your mind and expands your vocabulary but it also improves your memory. Reading will spike your knowledge and make you feel more sleepy if you are struggling to fall asleep.

12 – Go to bed early

You will be tired of working in the day so there will need to give proper rest to the body at night. Benjamin Franklin (one of the founding fathers of the United States has said that ‘Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man, healthy, wealthy and wise’. Sleep experts say that a human body needs at least 8 hours of sleep in the day. So you should go to bed early at night. If you take proper sleep at night will feel so much better in the morning – focused, refreshed and ready to take on the day.
